If House Arellano controls the movement of Theza, then House Voss controls its heartbeat.
The great manufactorums of Voss territory never truly sleep. Entire districts burn with furnace-light day and night beneath permanent clouds of smoke and refinery ash. Workers live and die beneath the sound of assembly lines older than their bloodlines, building weapons and machinery for wars they will never see.
Theza feeds the Imperium.
House Voss ensures it remains capable of doing so.
Of all the Great Houses, Voss maintains the largest industrial holdings on the planet. Their manufactorums produce everything from mining drills and heavy loaders to munitions, armour plating and military equipment destined for distant Imperial warzones. Entire hive sectors depend upon Voss production quotas, and when those quotas fall behind, people disappear.
Usually in large numbers.
Unlike many noble families, House Voss has never hidden its methods behind diplomacy or ceremony. Their authority is immediate and visible. Armed overseers patrol factory floors. Labour districts are monitored constantly. Production failures are punished publicly.
Efficiency is valued above comfort.
Productivity above mercy.
Within Voss-controlled territory, weakness is treated almost as a moral failing.
Despite this brutality, there are many on Theza who genuinely respect House Voss. Their districts are harsh, but orderly. Transit lines function. Security patrols arrive on time. Manufactorums continue operating even during shortages and unrest that would cripple rival territories.
As one lower-hive saying goes:
“Voss may work you to death, but at least the lights stay on while they do it.”
The current ruler of House Voss, Matriarch Helena Voss, is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous political figures on Theza. Rarely seen outside official ceremonies, Helena is said to rule her territories with absolute discipline and little tolerance for dissent. Several failed labour revolts during her reign ended with entire hab-blocks being sealed and vented into the ash wastes beneath the hive.
Officially, those districts suffered industrial contamination events.
Unofficially… few believe that explanation.
House Voss maintains a particularly hostile relationship with many underhive syndicates and smuggling groups, viewing them as parasites feeding upon productive society. This has placed them increasingly at odds with houses such as Arellano and Malrec, both of whom have long been suspected of maintaining unofficial ties to criminal networks.
Yet even Voss pragmatism has limits.
Despite public condemnation of illicit trade, several investigations into black-market weapons originating from Voss manufactorums have quietly vanished over the years. Entire shipments of military-grade equipment have reportedly disappeared during transit before resurfacing months later in the hands of mercenary companies and hive gangs.
House Voss denies all knowledge of such incidents.
Naturally.
There are darker rumours too.
Workers speak of sealed production levels beneath the primary manufactorum districts where ancient machinery continues operating far below official capacity records. Others claim House Voss possesses stockpiles of pre-Imperial weapon schematics recovered during forgotten excavation efforts beneath the hive foundations.
Most dismiss such stories as worker superstition.
Then again, on Theza, superstition and truth often share the same factory floor.
Whatever secrets House Voss keeps behind its iron walls, one fact remains undeniable:
If the manufactorums of Voss ever truly fell silent…
Theza would starve within weeks.
